What Is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry covers a wide variety of options designed to keep you calm and comfortable during dentistry treatments, such as laughing gas and oral conscious sedation. Our Centennial dentists are licensed to offer several kinds, like anxiolysis, giving you peace of mind at the dentist.

What Kinds of Issues Can Sedation Dentistry Help With?

While most people think of dental sedation as something that only helps with pain, it's actually quite versatile. It can completely transform visits for dentistry patients with:

Fear of Discomfort

From root canal therapy to routine cleanings, patients don't have to stress about feeling any discomfort. We can ensure your dental procedure is free of any tenderness, irritation, or fear using local anesthetic and sedation.

Anxiety at the Dentist

Anxiety during dentistry visits is extremely common. We understand this worry, and we address it head-on using sedation dentistry like oral conscious sedation. You can finally pursue the treatments you need or want for a healthy, beautiful smile.

Repetitive Motions

Uncontrollable swallowing, shaking, or other repetitive movements can make dental visits a real challenge. Luckily, our caring team can put you or your loved ones at ease using safe sedation dentistry methods.

Health Complications

At our dentistry practice, we work with your specific needs for safe and comfortable care. We take the time to make experiences easier for those with health complications or additional concerns, such as patients with diabetes or elderly patients.

We Transform Smiles While Maintaining Patient Comfort

One of our most life-changing dental treatments is the smile makeover. It's a completely custom cosmetic dentistry treatment plan based on your needs and desires, and it can truly make a difference for patients who haven't visited the dentist in a long time.

Our dentists can address the shade, shape, and size of your teeth using methods like teeth whitening, dental bonding, and Invisalign®. For this patient, we concealed worn, discolored teeth, creating a stunning but natural-looking new smile.

Free Second Opinions

Are you dealing with a dentist that isn't considerate of your comfort? You can put that stress in the past. We offer free second opinions so that you can explore all your options worry-free.

We Provide Three Kinds of Sedation Dentistry

No matter which option you prefer, you'll always have a dedicated team member to monitor you in the office at all times, allowing you to truly relax.

Oral Conscious Sedation

With oral sedation, we will give you a prescription for a calming pill to keep you at ease. It creates a tranquil and deeply relaxed state. Since you'll be taking the pill before your appointment, you'll need someone to bring you to our Centennial, CO, office. Once treatment is completed, you'll want the same friend or family member to take you home.

Nitrous Oxide

Often referred to as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a type of sedation breathed in through a mask. The nitrous oxide quickly takes effect, making you feel relaxed and numb. This is the only option for which you may be able to drive home after treatment, though it can be best to have a trusted friend or family member take you back for your peace of mind.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is stronger than our other options, like nitrous oxide. As the most concentrated choice, it is administered through your veins. You will typically feel a quick pinch, but since we have a licensed professional to disperse IV sedation, the process will be as smooth as possible. The sedation will work quickly, and it can be adjusted as needed. Afterwards, you'll need someone to drive you home.

Our Dentists Are Licensed In Sedation Dentistry

Finding a team with qualifications you can trust is crucial. Our dentists have gone the extra mile by earning sedation licenses from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies for dependable in-house care.

Dr. Jean Link
Light Sedation License

Not all dentists are qualified to administer sedation themselves, but Dr. Jean Link is. In order to earn her license, she needed to fulfill rigorous requirements, including completing 16 hours of relevant classes, before applying. Using her light sedation license and updated knowledge, she can make appointments calmer and easier.

Dr. Mark Link
Moderate Sedation License

Patients who need a bit more relaxation can trust Dr. Mark Link. He has taken the time to earn and maintain a moderate sedation license. The requirements behind that achievement include detailing 20 successful cases in his application, as well as finishing 60 hours of related sedation training.

Advanced Needs? We Can Handle Them Too

/

We're fully prepared to meet whichever level of sedation you may require. We work with a physician with a higher-level sedation license. They can relax patients with more substantial needs, like medical conditions impacting treatment or comfort.

Hands down the best experience I’ve had with a dentist. The first time I met Dr. Mark, he went out of his way to learn about me as a PERSON, learn about my interests, learn about my concerns, and learn about what makes me, me. He’s one of the most personable people I have ever met, along with every one of his staff, especially his receptionist Kat :). Yesterday, I had some work done that wasn’t too easy on myself, and one of his staff was holding my hand and telling me it will be alright, and I was strong. Even though I didn’t feel strong in that moment, they believed in me. They believed in me when I couldn’t ❤️ And for the icing on the cake- my teeth LOOK AMAZING. Hands down the best set of temporaries I have laid my eyes on. These people not only pay attention to detail, but pay attention to their clients, and what would look best on them, and fit their personality and style of living. I love these people, and I CANNOT WAITTTT to continue on with Dr. Mark. :) What a special place to receive dental work ❤️

Dr. Link and his staff made the experience manageable and comfortable - especially for someone who has an absolute fear of even walking by a dental office. They provided excellent care and a kind chairside manner with direct communication during every step of the procedure.

Dr. Link’s staff is some of the best and most professional I’ve encountered in my 30 years of getting dental work...And Pricilla went above and beyond assisting Dr. Link for the 2 hours I spent in the chair. Our conversations were fun and informative and she even got me to laugh a bit through the numb blubbering stage.

They have cutting edge technology and don’t mess around in getting things done right the first time. And I really appreciated their sensitivity to what can be an understandably anxiety inducing experience as a patient.

Does Dental Insurance Cover Sedation?

woman sleeping at dental office

Insurance typically only covers sedation, like oral sedation or nitrous oxide, if it's deemed necessary for your dental care. Our compassionate team accepts most insurances and PPOs.

We're happy to confirm ahead of time if we take your insurance and if your sedation will be covered. Even if it isn't, we know what an important investment sedation can be in your health and comfort.

To make paying for your treatment more manageable, we accept financing from CareCredit® and Sunbit. We encourage you to reach out to our team any time if you have questions about the process.
